Companies flock to Kazakhstan
for the annual World Food Kazakhstan exhibitio
On 3-6 November, Almaty will host the 12th Central Asian International Food Industry Exhibition – World Food Kazakhstan 2009.
In his welcome letter, Akhmetzhan Yesimov from the Almaty City Akim explains the significance of World Food Kazakhstan for the country’s food industry: “During the last few years, the exhibition has become a platform to demonstrate new technologies and services, and promote the exchange of experience and ideas. It is a place to sign contracts and hold meetings with potential partners, distributors and buyers. More importantly, as competition in the domestic market grows, the exhibition helps to establish a dialogue between companies, potential investors and ministries, relevant agencies and governments from various countries”.
This year’s exhibition will feature 170 exhibitors, 28% of which are domestic companies, with the remaining 72% made up of companies from 30 countries. There will also be national group stands from Germany, South Korea and (for the first time) Latvia. A particular trait of this year’s show is the number of first-time exhibitors – 60% - perhaps a result of market movements during the economic crisis.
Every year, World Food Kazakhstan welcomes around 5,000 professional visitors, who will have the opportunity to watch and take part in various events including a tasting competition, The Best Product, which will feature deli sausages, mayonnaise, pasta, flour, alcoholic beverages, pastry and, for the first time, peanut butter.
